Who doesn’t love the wonderful world of Wonderland? This is such a popular theme for events, and it can go in so many directions – Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, Red Queen’s Garden Party, Land of Wonderland Characters just to name a few.
Make sure your menu reflects your event and continues the theme. For a Mad Hatter Tea Party, assorted finger sandwiches, assorted scones and petits fours would be appropriate. If you’re hosting a Queens Garden Party, you could serve the same or even go a little more formal.
When we are planning this type of event, we use assorted china plates, teacups and tea pots to set the tone. We usually try to schedule actors/volunteers dressed as assorted Wonderland characters to bring out the food on 3-tiered china trays. They weave in and out of the tables before reaching their assigned tables. It’s a show in itself!
We’ve included a couple of samples of menus that we’ve done in the past, along with an assortment of our china plates, tea cups, tea pots and 3-tiered trays. The first menu was for a bridal shower that was printed on onion paper giving it a very vintage feel, then rolled up and tied with a ribbon and note that read “Open Me”. The second was for a non-profit fundraiser in the shape of a teacup. It included a teabag label with the logo of the tea vendor who donated their tea for the event.
