Who doesn’t love the wonderful world of Wonderland? This is such a popular theme for events, and it can go in so many directions – Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, Red Queen’s Garden Party, Land of Wonderland Characters just to name a few.
When planning an event like this, don’t hold back. Set the tone with the invitation. The invitation is your first opportunity to get people excited. It should be geared to the type of event and provide enough details so guests will know what to expect and be eager to attend. For instance, if it’s a Tea (Lunch) Party, be sure to include graphics of the Mad Hatter Tea Party or have the invitation in the shape of a teapot. If you’re having a Red Queen’s Garden Party, you could use invitations in the shape of cards or include red roses. Be creative, let your imagination run wild.
In addition to the standard information (day, date and time) make sure you note the following:
- Food will/won’t be served (meal vs appetizers)
- Alcohol will/won’t be served
- Costume expected or encouraged
- For Fundraising Events, include information about what will is included (characters attending, photo ops, auction items)
We’ve included a couple of samples of invitations that we’ve done in the past. The first was for a bridal shower. The second was for a non-profit fundraiser and includes a tiny envelope attached to the main invitation with a note that read “Open Me”. The envelope held a note folded accordion style with addition information.
